In this Moodle post, let’s discuss on how to duplicate a Moodle course (or how to copy a Moodle course).
Duplicating a course is nothing but to take a backup of the same so that you can use the same course in any system. That’s the purpose.
Let’s take the step-by-step guide on how to copy a Moodle course.
Step 1: Dashboard login
Log in to your Moodle dashboard. From the dashboard, go to the Site Administration and to the course you want to duplicate. See the path here below.
Dashboard -> Site Administration -> Courses -> Manage categories and courses
Step 2: Select the course to duplicate
Click on the course to duplicate from the ‘Manage categories and courses’. When you click on the course, you get the options about it. Select ‘View’.
Step 3: Backup the course
From ‘View’ the course, click on the ‘Gear icon’ and you get a drop-down and from there select the backup link.
Step 4: Backup settings
Choose the setting by ticking the boxes and then click on ‘Next’ button.
Step 5: Review the backup settings
Review the backup settings and confirm. Then click on ‘Perform backup’.
Step 6: Continue to download the course
Click ‘Continue’ to download the course.
Once done, click on ‘Download link to duplicate the course. You can restore the same course as a new one or use it with a different title in another system. Thus, you can duplicate a Moodle course.
